Has Queen Latifah officially come out of the closet?

There are stars who keep a very low profile when it comes to their sexual orientation. Queen Latifah is an artist who has actually rarely addressed topics such as love and partnership.

Currently the rumor mill is bubbling. Because: during an award ceremony, where she was honored for her life's work, she wished among other things "Happy Pride!". Out of solidarity or perhaps because she herself is or could be queer?

The speculation about whether Queen Latifah is part of the community is nothing new. However, the two "magic words" currently give the whole thing a little more fodder.

Is Queen Latifah queer

What happened?

The events that led to the current speculations are quickly explained. A few days ago, Queen Latifah received the Lifetime Achievement Award. During the acceptance speech, which is traditionally held on such occasions, you could notice her emotions.

She seemed extremely touched. After regaining her composure a bit, she thanked her family and friends, among others. In particular, she also mentioned Eboni Nichols, her partner, calling her "my love." Just before she left the stage, she dropped another "Happy Pride!" dropped.

And it was precisely this remark, in conjunction with the emotional thank you to her partner, that ensured that the news - especially in the relevant media - overflowed.

Queen Latifah does not often talk about her private life

Queen Latifah has not been awarded for her life's work for nothing. She has already appeared in numerous productions. As far as her private life is concerned, however, she keeps a very low profile.

On her Instagram account - at least from her side - there is also nothing to read about the possibly meaningful sentence. She merely posted a picture of herself, tagged it with the hashtag #BETAAwards and added an "About last night".

It almost seems as if she will maintain this approach - and possibly enjoy and remain silent. But shouldn't it be exactly like that? The less hype is made about queerness and co., themore"normal" the topic is likely to become among the "cis population" as well.

In the case of Queen Latifah, it currently seems as if she is neither hiding nor concealing anything. Rather, she obviously loves being who she is and possibly playing a little with the rumor mill.

Is Queen Latifah queer

Who is Queen Latifah?

Queen Latifah manages to inspire across generations. She stands for strong "people of color" who have been going their way for decades and have always stood up for their art.

The artist was born in New Jersey. At the end of the 1980s she released her first album ("All Hail the Queen"). Success was not long in coming. A few years later she was awarded gold for another work.

Queen Latifah is known not only as a singer, but also as an actress. No matter if serious or funny roles: it almost seems like she can play anything. Perhaps it's because of this talent that many fans don't care whether she's attracted to the same or both sexes. One of her greatest successes, however, was undoubtedly the Oscar for her role in "Chicago".

After the lifetime achievement award, many more awards are likely to follow. The story of the icon is definitely not over yet.

To talk openly about sexual orientation or not?

This is certainly a question that is on the minds of many queers. Stars like Queen Latifah, for example, seem to be taking a new direction here.

Especially with regard to the goal to finally let queerness be seen as "normal", Queen Latifah's decision can be an interesting approach. Even if the "big, media-rich outings" often serve as support and orientation for young people, there is no question that "I'm queer, but I don't talk about it much BECAUSE it's normal!"can also help to illuminate the topic from a new perspective.
