The new year is already a few months old and now, at the latest in spring 2021, it's time to start thinking about the summer body.

But even die-hard fitness fans know the problem: they have absolutely no desire for "Leg Day". But how about reinventing it? There are far more options than the leg press when it comes to getting legs and butt in shape.

A trend that will once again play an important role in spring 2021: skating! Whether on inline skates, 90s roller skates or a skateboard, hobbies like these definitely have the potential to set new personal fitness benchmarks.

Trend No. 1: inline skating

Towards the end of the 90s, the classic roller skates were slowly replaced by inline skates. This developed into a trend that has endured to this day. For some time (and since the gyms had to close due to the Corona pandemic), more and more inline skating fans practice their hobby a little more sporty.

Longer distances, often uphill, ensure that the leg muscles - among others in the inner area - are strongly challenged. Great for all those who like to let the fresh wind blow around their noses.

Trend No. 2: the classic roller skates

The roller skates, which many children of the 90s still know, are currently celebrating a real revival. Stoppers in front, mounted in rows of two, the roller experience is only conditionally comparable with the inline skates. If necessary, the changeover needs a little practice.

However, from a fitness technical point of view, this has the advantage that, among other things, the front thigh muscles are also strongly challenged. This makes it possible to set specific accents during training.

If you think about it in the spring of 2021 to change the standing leg and the driving leg every now and then while boarding, you will find a great fitness leisure activity that challenges not only the muscles, but also the coordination and sense of balance.

All those who find it difficult are well advised to start one size smaller at first. Because: Riding a penny board is perceived by many as somewhat easier.

Of course, you don't need the big ramps to be sporty either. Even on straight tracks, skateboarding is and remains a real calorie killer.

Basics: How do I start?

Many people who have decided to exercise their legs on rollers for a change in the spring of 2021 know the problem: they try skateboarding, inline skating or rollerblading and give up because success is a long time coming.

Here the already mentioned "children of the 90s" are at an advantage. Those who were once able to skate usually forget this only with difficulty. But even newcomers need not despair.

It is only important to first rely on the appropriate protective clothing. This does not restrict, but can ideally prevent serious injuries.

Of course, the undertaking is especially fun when you do it together with your partner. Maybe your partner is already a "rolling pro" and has some tips?

Last but not least, it should not be forgotten that roller sports in particular are a wonderful flirting opportunity. There are usually no embarrassing pauses for talking here. Instead, propping and co. is required now and then. A great way to get a little touchy-feely on a first date, right? (Of course, please not too pushy, but just enough to make everyone feel comfortable - albeit on rollers and possibly a little wobbly).
