Which cities in Europe are particularly LGBTQIA+ friendly?

A vacation home rental company (Holidu) has taken it upon itself to publish a list that looks at the most LGBTQIA+ friendly cities in Europe. The most populous and queer-friendly places were up for election. Factors that played an important role in this context included equality and the range of locations, such as gay bars and the like.
The data collection took place between April and May 2022. And here comes the result:

Place 1: London

Place 1 London

London has made it to No. 1. Among other things, there are many locations here that are explicitly aimed at queers. Bars, cafes,... everyone should get their money's worth in this city. In addition, the people who belong to the community are much more equal here than in many other parts of the world.

However, those who created the list were able to find a small minus point. Because: A vacation in London is comparatively expensive... Especially if you stay near the center. But even that should not be an obstacle for most, when it comes to celebrate here, for example, the CSD. At the latest then the city will surely burst at the seams again.

Place 2: Berlin

Place 2 Berlin

Berlin, after all, made it to second place. What's more, accommodation in the German city is nowhere near as expensive as in London. But Berlin can also stand out from its competitors in another category. Because: almost nowhere else in Europe are there as many gay bars as here.
And even away from the CSD, it certainly won't be boring in the German capital. Especially in the summer, there are many parties on the weekends that are explicitly aimed at the community, but where everyone is welcome.

3rd place: Hamburg

Place 3 Hamburg

The city of Hamburg is particularly convincing when it comes to the accessibility of support services for queers. But also with regard to bars - perhaps also because of the Reeperbahn - no wishes are left unfulfilled. With rankings of 2 and 3, Germany accordingly achieves a thoroughly presentable result here. By the way, Pride and the associated festivities will take place in the Hanseatic city from
July 30 to August 7, 2022.

Rank 4: Amsterdam

Place 4 Amsterdam

Many queers would certainly have seen the city in the Netherlands a bit further ahead - among other things because the members of the scene here are comparatively equal. This is also reflected in the points awarded. Amsterdam even received more points in this category than the leader, London.
The nightlife in particular ensures that many queers, among others, drop by here on weekends. It is often difficult to decide on just one bar. The range of relevant locations is huge.

Place 5: Paris

Place 5 Paris

A stay in Paris is comparatively expensive. However, those who are willing to dig a little deeper into their vacation funds can spend many beautiful and cross-friendly days here. Tolerance and diversity celebrate a long tradition in the city. This year, Pride will take place in the French capital on June 25. And this time again hundreds of thousands of people are expected.

Should you vacation exclusively in cross-friendly regions?

Everyone certainly answers this question a little differently. However, it is also certain that there are regions in which queers are still exposed to many dangers today. Among other things, many associations advise people to avoid countries like Poland or Hungary as a classic vacation destination. If you don't want to spend too much money and still want to enjoy a queer-friendly vacation, you should look around in the suburbs of the larger cities. Here you can often find the slightly cheaper offers.
