Wachowski sisters: Auction of unique film items for a good cause

The Wachowski sisters have given the film world milestones like the "Matrix" series and "V for Vendetta". Now they want to give their fans a big treat in a different way. In the course of an auction, an organization that supports trans kids is to be supported. Among other things, many original props from their films and other valuable unique items will go under the hammer.

The money raised will then go to the "Protect & Defend Trans Youth Fund", which works for the rights and integration of transgender children and young people. The auction will focus mainly on original props from the Matrix series.

What is everything auctioned?

On Twitter, Lilly Wachowksi, then known by her birth name Andy Wachowski, announced that there would be a big auction, where especially Matrix fans and collectors could find something they were interested in.
In further tweets, she also pointed out that "everything had to go" and linked directly to said auction. The associated website, on which about 200 items can be found, has the appropriate title: "Enter the Matrix: The Wachowski Collection".

But what exactly is being auctioned off? The coveted items include film props such as the lighting guns from "The Matrix," Channing Tatum's ears from "Jupiter Ascending," original production plans, signed movie posters and the MTV Movie Award for "Best Director" for the film "The Matrix. The homepage is well worth a look - especially for film fans.

Complete proceeds of the auction go to organization for trans kids

The "Protect & Defend Trans Youth Fund" actively campaigns for the rights of transgender children and youth in America. Recently, individual U.S. states have attracted attention for their anti-trans laws. A classic example of this is the "Don't Say Gay" law passed in Florida, which bans transgender education or content about the queer lifestyle in public schools.

In addition, physicians in Alabama are prohibited from providing gender reassignment treatment to patients under the age of 19.

These are just a few of many examples currently being discussed in the U.S. (and beyond).

The "Protect & Defend Trans Youth Fund" has made it its business to actively fight against these laws. In order to be able to take action here, it needs money, of course. The set goal is 1.5 million US dollars. With their auction, the Wachowski sisters want to support the corresponding activities. So if you feel like expanding your collection and want to do something good at the same time, you should pay the homepage a visit.

The story of the Wachowski sisters

When the first Matrix movie was released, both sisters were still known by their birth names Laurence (Lana) and Andy (Lilly) Wachowski. Already after the release of the second Matrix movie, Lana began to show her feminine side and since 2010 the name Laurence Wachowski no longer exists in any Hollywood movie database.

Her sister Lilly did not come out until six years later. She took this step after a reporter unabashedly rang the doorbell and asked about the gender reassignment surgery. In the meantime, the two have completely shed their old identities. They also don't get bored professionally. Most recently, they worked on the fourth part of the "Matrix" series and on the queer series "Work in Progress".
