The days are getting shorter and the air indoors drier. This can affect not only the mood, but also the skin. It is therefore all the more important to take appropriate preventive measures and to make small beauty stops every now and then to do something good for the body (and the soul).

But what if care is given regularly, but incorrectly? The good news is that if you know which mistakes are particularly common in the care routine, you can often avoid them.

The following "mishaps" happen comparatively often and can contribute to the skin not benefiting from treatments to the fullest extent.

Mistake No. 1: Care products and skin type do not match

Anyone who is surprised that creams and co. seem to be ineffective should check whether the products used and the skin type match. A classic example: men with oily skin need different care than men with combination skin, etc.. Those who are unsure about which beauty care suits them, of course, also have the opportunity to find out exactly that within the framework of a skin analysis.

Mistake No. 2: The right products at the wrong time of year

For many beauty fans it comes as a surprise, but: there are some people who never change their skin care products. Whether it's spring, summer, fall or winter, they always use the same day cream, for example, without taking into account the special needs of their skin. It is not difficult to take a little precaution here. The "basic rule" is: the colder it is, the more greasy the day or night cream should be.

Mistake No. 3: Do not remove dead skin cells

Regular peelings are simply part of a complete beauty routine. They help to gently remove the dead skin cells and provide the basis for a comprehensive care of the "new skin". But be careful! The motto "Alot helps a lot!" should not be applied here. This applies to both the frequency and the texture of the peelings. Too coarse grains can cause the skin to become irritated. The same applies if the (often sensitive) facial skin comes into contact with peelings too often. As a rule, weekly treatments are absolutely sufficient here. Since many peelings are also wonderfully suitable for degreasing the skin, the basis for pimples is often removed.

Error no. 4: Sun protection is ignored

Some find the application of sun protection a nuisance and compromise with regard to sun protection factor and reapplication. But: skin that is not protected tends to form wrinkles more quickly. In addition, the risk of skin cancer should of course not be underestimated in this context.

How high the sun protection factor should ultimately be depends essentially on the intensity of the sun exposure, the duration of sunbathing and your own skin type. In case of doubt, of course, the dermatologist can also help.

Mistake #5: Stress in the bathroom

An absolute classic: the alarm clock rang too late, the majority of the care routine must be cancelled. The sufferer here is also - especially in the cold season - the skin. It is therefore actually worthwhile to take the precaution of going to bed half an hour earlier, getting up on time and starting the day relaxed (in every respect).

Optionally, of course, it is also possible to put the daily or regular beauty routine in the evening hours.
