Planning for Geneva Pride continues to take shape

Corona has ensured that many things have changed and, among other things, there was no Geneva Pride. However, it is the small rays of hope in the form of events that give rise to the hope that soon a little more normality should prevail again.

A "piece of the puzzle" in this context is the news that Geneva Pride will also take place in 2021. This should be at the end of June. In addition, those responsible are also working on the planning for the Marche des Fiertés in Geneva. It has been dated for September 11.

Geneva Pride starts at the end of June

A brief overview of important dates for Pride in Geneva (Geneva Pride)

A big parade in - more or less - narrow streets? This is (in times of the pandemic) not yet to think about. However, this does not mean that the events around the Geneva would also have to be canceled. On the contrary!

The program is characterized - who would have thought it? - by its versatility and exciting content.

So that everyone can get their money's worth, Geneva Pride will be split into two parts this year. The start will be celebrated on June 26 and 27. Here, among other things, a Pride Run and various smaller events await the participants and participants. In mid-September - on 11.09.2021 - the Marche des Fiertés will be celebrated.

In any case, a special highlight of Pride will once again be the rally on Saturday. Here, among other things, a mix of culture, strong statements and politics is set. Above all, current topics, such as marriage for all and other issues, are likely to be the focus here. The already mentioned Pride Run will take place one day later. Here, the participants will have to complete an approximately seven-kilometer route through the city. Of course, there will also be plenty to do away from the run. Accordingly, it is worth finding out about other small events.

Pride despite a pandemic? Is that possible?

Obviously! The organizers rely here on an appropriate safety and hygiene concept. The visitors and visitors are of course asked to observe the rules of decency, to wear the mask, etc..

Based on the prevailing concept, it will then also be possible, among other things, to organize a picnic in the park of the Théâtre de l'Orangerie. Of course, the number of participants here - as with the other events around the Pride 2021 in Geneva - is limited.

However, the events also show that it is quite possible to send an important signal for more diversity and tolerance even during Corona. Even if the Prides under pandemic conditions can of course not be compared to the Prides of two years ago, it is still important to be present.

Even though the Corona pandemic is certainly one of the most drastic crises of mankind, this does not mean that other challenges of everyday life should be forgotten because of it.

There are even some studies that have found that homophobia has increased in some areas during the pandemic. All the better that those responsible behind the Prides, not only in Geneva but also in other parts of the world, are not discouraged and are currently planning at least replacement and sometimes online events to convey the relevant content.

The LGBTQ scene at Geneva Pride

The LGBTQ scene in Geneva is growing continuously and shows with the current planning around Pride 2021 that it always comes up with something new to show presence.

But Geneva is also very "gay-friendly" away from the corresponding events. In the city there are numerous relevant meeting places where queers from all walks of life are welcome.

In the past, Geneva was repeatedly voted among the "most livable cities in the world". Does this have something to do with the openness and tolerance of the people? Perhaps.
