TSG: Marco Buschmann emphasizes the importance of communication

The discussions around the abolition of the degrading TSG ("Transsexual Act") do not stop. The fronts between those who want the TSG to finally become history and those who see the whole thing as "not so bad after all" are still hardened.

Now Marco Buschmann from the FDP has once again spoken out. The stated that he lacks respect among those who continue to adhere to the transsexual law

What exactly is Marco Buschmann criticizing?

That Marco Buschmann from the FDP is an opponent of the transsexual law is not new. In the past, he has often spoken out in favor of its abolition, and even now he never tires of emphasizing how outdated the relevant provisions are.

For classification: The transsexual law is already about 40 years old. In the meantime, a lot has happened, so that it is now at the latest time to "catchup" here. Because: Currently, trans persons have to undergo a humiliating procedure if they want to apply for a change of personal status, for example. For example, two expert opinions are drawn up in connection with which intimate questions have to be answered.
Speaking to Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland, the politician again stated how important it is to treat trans people with respect. In the article in question, he also commented, among other things, on Corona issues, such as compulsory vaccination.

However, one of his next goals is definitely to provide transsexuals with dignified communication and to spare them the treatment based on the Transsexual Act. Through his statements, he could actually manage to make even more people aware of this issue. After all, many people who have not dealt with the TSG and its consequences in the past do not know which examinations and expert opinions people who are transsexual have to undergo.

The transsexual law could - at least theoretically - be abolished comparatively quickly

Sure: Until a law can be changed or even abolished, it usually takes time. And also in connection with the transsexual law, of course, certain guidelines have to be followed. But it is especially "practical" that a lot of "preparatory work" around the abolition of the TSG has already been done by the coalition agreement, on which the parties had agreed. An important piece of the puzzle is the "detail" that a self-determination law has been introduced that gives queers more room for maneuver.

The embarrassing interviews and expert opinions are also to be dropped - if everything goes smoothly - and replaced by self-disclosure at the registry office.
A detailed draft, which will go into even more detail, is to be presented by the Ministry of Family Affairs and Justice before the summer break.

The abolition of the transsexual law - voices of opposition are also raised

The plans to abolish the Transsexual Act are not met with enthusiasm everywhere. A look at the social networks shows that some critics are of the opinion that it would be made too easy for transsexual people to have their gender adapted on the basis of a self-determination law and accordingly without the TSG.

Especially legal-political and feminist groups express themselves in this context again and again discriminating against the affected persons. Nevertheless, many experts are currently of the opinion that the abolition of the transsexual law is only a matter of time and that it will then be possible for trans persons to decide about themselves more freely and without complications.

With Marco Buschmann, the community has a political representative at its side who will certainly continue to attach importance to ensuring that, ideally, nothing stands in the way of increased communication and respectful exchange in the future.
