Many actions for IDAHOBIT 2022
May 17 is the day against homophobia. At this year's IDAHOBIT, among other things, Justice Minister Bushman emphasized that protection against discrimination should be increased. To show solidarity with the community to the outside world, rainbow flags were hung on numerous buildings.
IDAHOBIT was held for the first time in 2005. On this day it should be remembered that the WHO decided in 1990 to no longer list homosexuality as a disease.
Around May 17, however, it is about more than "just" speaking out against homophobia. Among other things, it is also intended to draw attention to the fact that people who are bi-, trans- or intersexual, for example, also suffer from discrimination.
The actions and statements that played an important role around this year's IDAHOBIT come from a wide variety of areas. Only a few of the numerous examples are listed below.
RTL relies on the "Diversity connects" initiative.
RTL has presented the "Diversity Week" for IDAHOBIT 2022. This is to take place from June 20 to 26. Two of the main topics: sexual orientation and gender identity. Among other things, formats such as "Viva la Diva - Who's the Queen?" are to be shown in this context. In addition, a Nachtjournal special is planned. In line with the IDAHOBIT, those responsible for the CSD Berlin have decided to publish a list of demands. In this, among other things, hate crimes and topics around rainbow families are addressed.

Those responsible for "Basic Law for All" have handed over thousands of postcards to members of the Bundestag.
Their goal: They want to achieve that the anti-discrimination article 3 is supplemented. Strictly speaking, it is about sexual and gender identity being more protected by law.
"Small flag premiere" in Schwerin
This is a small, big premiere. Because: In front of the Ministry of Social Affairs in Schwerin, a rainbow flag flew for the first time - on the occasion of IDAHOBIT 2022. The action was also celebrated in the social networks... Among other things, because so the visibility of the community in the city was increased in a simple but effective way.

IDAHOBIT 2022 was also a topic in the children's news. Accordingly, what would be impossible in many other countries was once again taken for granted in this country. The message: "Girls are also allowed to love girls and boys are also allowed to love boys". At the same time, attention was drawn to the fact that many people in this country are still excluded and discriminated against because of their sexuality or sexual orientation.

The IDAHOBIT can be considered a success again this year. The goal of standing up against homophobia was achieved. At the same time, however, this special day shows once again that there is still a long way to go before equal rights are achieved.
