Love Island: Pass for Jess because she is transgender

The new season of Love Island is just three episodes as and already there is the first small scandal in the round. The net is already hotly debated and once again the question "How open is society?" or "How hard do queers have it in everyday life?"
The two participants, around which revolves in the course of the discussions a lot, are Jess and Adriano. There was an early sizzle between the two, but after two days of intense flirting, there is an end to togetherness and the prospect of "more." Adriano lost interest in Jess when he learned that she is transgender.

Love Island - Pass for transgender

Season 7 Love Island - What happened between Adriano and Jess?

For the seventh time, RTL Zwei is airing the popular flirting and dating show "Love Island - Heiße Flirts & wahre Liebe. The candidates have until April 11 to find their true love. All on a fantastically beautiful island, with many hot singles. The current season is hosted by Sylvie Meis.

On Wednesday night, however, there was a kind of showdown between Adriano and Jess that perhaps few would have expected. Jess outed herself to Adriano and explained that she is transgender and was not born a woman.

After that, somehow nothing was the same anymore. Adriano didn't really know what to say. After a short pause, he then explained that he thought it was "really cool" that she was so honest, but he was also a littlegobsmacked or - in his words - "caught off guard." In the end, he decided against it. Among other reasons, he said, was because he wanted to have children someday. Whether this statement was perhaps a little pretextual, of course, can not be evaluated.

Only Mark knew

After such an outing, there is a need for conversation to sort out thoughts. At the same time, it was important to Adriano not to out Jess. She should decide for herself when it was time. However, since she also talked to Mark, Adriano had found someone to talk to.
During said conversation with Mark, he was surprised that Adriano had not noticed anything about Jess' transsexuality. For him it had been clear that the queer participant had not been born a woman.
Jess remains relaxed

Jess didn't really take Adriano's rejection in stride, as it wasn't the first time she had been turned down because of her background story. The whole thing felt like a "slap in the face", but she credited Adrian for remaining so polite.
What happens next for Jess and her search for the right partner remains to be seen.
On the one hand, of course, it's good for her that she handled the situation so confidently. On the other hand, the fact that she seems to know enough of such reactions to her gender by now makes us think.

However, it is also clear that Adriano's reaction could well have been worse. After all, he showed enough sensitivity to offer Jess the opportunity to speak to the group himself. Either way, this incident may have shown viewers once again how difficult it is in this day and age for a non-cis person to find true love - whether on TV or in "real life.

The current season of Love Island will run until 11.04.2022 on RTL Zwei. Except on Saturdays, there is a new episode every day at 10:15 pm. If you want, you can also stream it on RTL+.
