The ramparts of Greifswald
The ramparts of Greifswald were built in 1264 to defend the city. It was equipped inside with thick walls, high turrets and a large number of gates. Around it, the high ramparts were built to make it difficult to climb up with many ditches and thick watercourses. Today, only about 1.6 kilometers of the old city wall are preserved, but it encloses almost the entire old town in an oval shape.
But at the beginning of the 19th century, these old ramparts began to be transformed into a beautiful park. The last time this wonderful green park was redesigned in 2014 with various play and recreational activities. In addition, the ramparts of Greifswald offer a path that leads to the popular old town on almost every 50 meters. It is also only a few minutes walk from the train station, which makes it one of the most central and sought-after parks in the city.
All this makes the ramparts of Greifswald probably also so popular in the gay scene. Here, countless interested people meet daily at the Wall between the Mensa and Fleischerstraße. For cruising, the small hinterland on the Museumshof and the Gymnasium are best suited here. In addition, you meet here at dusk various men from Usedom, Rügen and Anklam but of course alsothe Greifswald and their sweet students.
In summer you should definitely visit the lido Eldena.
