Hollywood star Demi Lovato has come out as non-binary.

Recently, another star came out - not as gay, not as lesbian, but first and foremost as non-binary. It has long been known that Demi Lovato fights for the rights of the LGBTQ community. Now the star posted a statement on his Twitter channel that caused quite a stir. Instead of "she" and "her" Lovato now wants to use "they" and "them".

This is to express that there are people who do not want to be assigned to the male or female gender.

It is a bit difficult to translate said "they" or "them" into German. Because: up to now there is no equivalent for this.

Demi Lovato is non-binary

Demi's tweet in detail

Demi Lovato posts a lot on Twitter anyway. Therefore, it almost seems as if this - quite important - message is a little lost in the mass of tweets. But only almost! The reactions to the statement were not long in coming.

Demi explains "they"/ "them" is very happy to share even more of life with fans. The star identifies as non-binary and has decided - as mentioned above - to change the corresponding pronouns.

Demi Lovato also doesn't want to be categorized as a man or a woman anymore and seems to be very happy about this kind of identity. It even seems as if the joy Lovato associates with her outing grows with every line.

She is not alone in her views. On the contrary! For some time now, there have been more and more people, including artists, who do not see the point of identifying themselves by gender. They often wish for more flexibility and the freedom to be exactly as they are.

Even though opinions on Demi's decision differ, the main credo is positive. Many fans admire the star for his decision to go public with such a bold statement. And maybe Lovato has inspired some others to take a similar path?!

Lovato has long supported the community

Demi - at least since coming out - not only belongs to the queer community, but has also been supporting it for some time.

No matter if it's about pointing out homophobia in everyday life and declaring war on it or directly standing up for the rights of queers in various ways: Demi Lovato is not afraid to make a statement. Not even when hostility is sometimes not long in coming.

In any case, the success of the megastar does not suffer from the clear edge that is repeatedly brought into focus here.

However, it is certainly particularly impressive for those who have been following Demi's career for a while. Once a child star, today a successful world star and in any case a person who is likely to inspire others with his self-confidence.

One tweet of many - but with a special significance

Maybe Demi Lovato's coming out seems so sympathetic because it was posted but not staged in a particularly dramatic way.

The tweet seems more like a "Have I already told you the latest news?"and not at all like an attempt to make waves in the media.

Demi is Demi and perhaps stands by herself even more today than she did a few years ago.

It remains to be wished for all non-binary people that they will not only manage to take this important step, but that there will also (hopefully) soon be a word in other languages that describes their identity better than a "he" or "she".

Don't you think love goes through... the nose?!
