So that as many film lovers as possible can enjoy the respective flicks, the films (see below) will be shown in different cities, including Vienna, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Cologne and Stuttgart.

A total of 15 queer films are on the program. Accordingly, it should certainly not be boring.

The queerfilmfestival in September

Which films will be shown at the queerfilmfestival?

The 15 films that will be shown at the queerfilmfestival come from a wide variety of genres. This should ensure that everyone gets their money's worth. The event starts off on a high note.Firebird" will be shown as the opening film. This is a thriller set in the time of the Cold War. Here a soldier and a fighter pilot fall in love with each other. So it is not only about finding yourself, but also about standing by each other in the situation of war and mutual prejudice.

But the other films should also be worth a look. Among others, the following works will be shown:

  • We Will Become Better

The film impressively addresses the problems surrounding homophobia and social constraints - in Russia, among other places.

  • Ellie & Abbie

Certainly not for those who are afraid of ghosts and spirits. However, the message of the romantic comedy is all the more beautiful. The main character is Ellie, who falls in love with her classmate and asks her out. So that she is not alone with her excitement and all the new feelings, she receives help from the realm of the dead.

This film deals with the question of when is the best time to confess one's love to another person and how this can be squeezed into a frighteningly small window of time by external circumstances. In the case of the protagonist Harry, there are only 15 hours left to confess his feelings. For: the man Harry has fallen in love with is about to board his flight to Great Britain. Anyone who is in the mood for big emotions should be in good hands here.

  • Young Hunter

Young Hunter is about the desire a teenager feels when it comes to having sex for the very first time. What could be more practical than a storm-free apartment? However, the protagonist of this film has to learn in a frightening way that this is not always a guarantee for undisturbed hours.

  • Tove

Tove is about the life of the illustrator and author Tove Jansson. The artist did not care much about pigeonholing and categorizing herself as "female" and "male" and is therefore - in retrospect - considered by many to be a person ahead of her time. The Finnish-Swedish "all-rounder" was born in 1914. She died in Helsinki in 2001 and left behind a number of works that are still very popular today.

  • Genderation

Here the name says it all: It is about the social attitude towards gender and co. and how the movement of transsexual people was or is perceived, especially in California. An impressive work for everyone who wants to take a little trip into the history of the LGBTQ community.

Diverse in many respects

According to their own statement, the organizers of the queerfilmfestival are not only concerned with addressing issues around diversity, but also with making the program around the festival diverse.

The above list alone that this seems to succeed at first glance. Both the settings - from war to the big city - and the challenges that the protagonists have to deal with differ significantly from one another in some cases.

The event is now being held for the third time. Many of the films have already been shown at other events, such as Cannes or the Berlinale.
