Songs for others - A small premiere for Tom Neuwirth

Anyone who has followed the career of Conchita or Tom knows that the artist mostly sings himself. That he writes songs for others is a small premiere.

What's more, the 32-year-old also seems to have a close connection with the Friedrichstadt Palast. Because: in an interview with dpa, he revealed that he regularly visits the house himself. However, when he was asked if he would like to contribute songs, he was hesitant. He didn't know if he could write songs for others at all. In the end, however, it was his producer who encouraged him.

In the end, however, Neuwirth seems very happy with the result. He has already seen the rehearsals and speaks of a "really great feeling.

Whether Conchita will write songs for other artists in the future remains to be seen. What is certain is that many fans will be curious about the result of "Arise". The expectations associated with a show that makes it to the Friedrichstadt Palast are high anyway.

What is "Arise" about?

"Arise" is about the artist Cameron, who loves to create images in numerous facets and in different colors. For his works, he travels around the world with his muse. At some point, however, he loses her - and with her the basis of his creativity, his life. Everything suddenly seems dark and dreary.

In the end, however, it is his images that come to life and captivate him to such an extent that they draw him into his own memories. The profound question that thus arises: does the muse, who has actually already disappeared, possibly still have a message for him?

The official world premiere of "Arise" has been set for September 22, 2021. In the run-up, however, there will be a few shows in August.

How queer is the Friedrichstadt Palast?

The Friedrichstadt Palast has never made a secret of the fact that it is colorful and queer... and wants to be perceived exactly that way.

He thus embeds himself for decades in the colorful Berlin and welcomes guests of all sexual orientations. This idea is ultimately also reflected in his shows. Even if topics like queerness and co. are not always directly addressed, the various characters in the plays are characterized by great diversity - as is a large part of the audience that is a regular guest here.

Moreover, no one has to do without glitter at the Friedrichstadt Palast anyway. Accordingly, "Arise" should fit into the well-known and successful concept. Colorful, partly thoughtful, partly shrill and with a clear message: In the end, love wins. Let's just hope that nothing stands in the way of the show from August corona and cultural life is enriched by a detail.
