Boy George counts a record fee at the jungle camp UK

The jungle camp is opening again! The show, which runs in Germany under the title "Ich bin ein Star- Holt mich hier raus", is produced in several countries at once. The various nations send their celebrities into the (more or less deep) jungle, where they have to prove themselves for several days in various jungle tests. After some time, a candidate is voted out of the camp every day. Whoever makes it to the end is the national jungle king or queen.

The British edition of "I'm a Celebrity ...Get Me Out of Here!" has brought a very special candidate on board for the production of the new season. The contestant is cult singer Boy George, who had several hits in the 1980s, especially with his band Culture Club. The hit "Karma Chameleon" in particular helped them achieve international fame ... and is still responsible for one or two catchy tunes today.

Boy George to receive record sum for his participation

For Boy George to take part in the British edition of the jungle camp, the broadcaster had to put a lot of money on the table, according to media reports. Some even speak of the "biggest contract of all time" in this context. Because: Up to this point, no sum as high as in the case of Boy George has ever been paid out to a candidate.

According to insiders, Boy George is to receive a whole 879,000 British pounds if he takes one of the plank beds in the jungle. Converted, this is the record sum of over one million euros.

But the production should be sure that this money is well invested. Boy George is an icon in both the UK and Australia - and not just in the LGBTQIA+ scene.

And accordingly, it will certainly attract many viewers to the screen. These are precisely the best conditions for a new season of the broadcast format. Due to the pandemic, the last show was filmed in Wales.

This year, however, the journey is to go to the Australian jungle again.

And no sooner is it known how high the VIP level will be this year in the British-Australian jungle camp, the next news already comes to light. Boy George in the past already declared that he would be interested in the camp, but would never give up his vegan lifestyle. Accordingly, the audience should be very excited about the food tests. Maybe the singer also refuses the tests and risks that also his fellow campers must starve? The first episodes will be broadcast in November. Then some questions should answer themselves.

Scandalous headlines around Boy George

In the 1980s still a celebrated world star, there were in recent decades repeatedly negative headlines, around the Culture Club singer. In the past, he was arrested several times for drug possession. For this he even had to do community service in 2006. Many still remember the photos, which showed Boy George at that time at his activity in New York.

In his home country, he had to serve a four-month sentence in 2009 for beating a call boy while under the influence of drugs. In short: Boy George is one of the best proofs that international fame does not protect against punishment.

Boy George is not the only A-list celebrity in the British jungle camp

The British edition of the jungle camp has already featured some world-famous stars. Actor George Takei ("Star Trek"), for example, has already been part of the party. And with Boy George around the campfire, it shouldn't be boring either.

By the way, it is certain: The ESC 2023 will be held in Liverpool
