"It's a Sin" - British miniseries comes to Germany

If you're in the mood for queer entertainment, you're in for a treat: in June, the series "It's a Sin" will also be shown on German TV. The individual episodes will be shown via the provider Starzplay. A total of five parts have been shot.

Viewers can then choose between the original English version and the German translation. The new episodes are then released every week.

It's a Sin launches in Germany

What is "It's a Sin" about?

The plot of "It's a Sin" is quickly explained. The series revolves around three gay men living in London in the 1980s.

At some point, however, the lives of Roscoe, Ritchie and Colin change abruptly when they learn that - initially in America - a virus is spreading. When HIV then also claims victims in England, the danger suddenly becomes even more tangible.

At a time when the threat of a virus is once again playing an important role in people's lives, it can certainly broaden one's horizons to once again take a trip back in time and thus possibly once again be able to understand a little better how people must have felt back then.

The knowledge that is available today about HIV and Co. was still a long way off at that time. However, the title "It's a Sin" gives an idea of how many people thought at the beginning of the HIV issue.

"It's a Sin" has already enjoyed resounding success in England

Behind "It's a Sin" is the very director who was responsible for hits like "Queer as Folk": Russell T. Davies.

The miniseries has already been released in England and also in the USA - with a few weeks' lead time before Germany. The feedback was extremely positive.

The statistics also show that streaming fans obviously had a need for a look at the past and this important topic. Hardly any other series was watched as quickly as "It's a Sin.

The feedback in the social networks was also extremely positive - and not only from members of the queer community.

Starzplay focuses on queer content, among other things

Many streaming providers seem to have recognized that there is definitely interest in queer content from a wide variety of companies. For example, "The Boys in The Band" with "Dr. Dr. Sheldon Cooper" Jim Parsons also enjoyed great success on Netflix.

Starzplay also adds "It's a Sin" to its queer entertainment program, proving that the stories surrounding the community are far from over.

Queer topics on TV - hipper than ever?!

A look at the virtual TV or streaming magazine shows that queer topics not only play a bigger role nowadays, but go into much more depth than in the past. While it used to be a "scandal" when two men kissed on TV, today it's more and more about highlighting the problems and challenges the protagonists face.

It is by far no longer "only" about being gay, but about shedding light on it and possibly thus also gaining a little more insight into a scene that has become increasingly transparent in the meantime.

Dating formats, such as "Prince Charming," are thus supplemented by a (often) particularly intense insight into queer emotional worlds. How profound these are, of course, always depends on the format in question. Fortunately, however, there is now a much wider selection than there was a few years ago.

Looking for something to wait for? Wait for Princess Charming, because it starts on 25.05.
