Hape Kerkeling: "Paws off the Table" makes it to No. 1 on the Spiegel bestseller list

Many of his fans have long known that Hape Kerkeling can do more than "just" comedy. With "Pfoten vom Tisch" (Paws off the Table), he has now proven his authorial qualities once again. The self-confessed cat fan shares his knowledge and experiences with all those who are in the mood for a mix of cat stories, laughter and information.

The project seems to have gone down very well. Within a short time, "Pfoten vom Tisch" made it to No. 1 on the Spiegel bestseller list. Perhaps also because the writing style alone conveys a pleasant "He is one of us!" conveyed?

Kerkeling explains at the beginning of the book that he discovered his love for cats at an early age. To this day, he loves his animals above all else, even dedicating the book to them - his still-living and already deceased pussycats.

A mix of love and fascination

The individual sections of the book show how much love and respect Hape Kerkeling has for cats. Although the animals have been part of his everyday life for so long, they always manage to fascinate him.

Now and then it even seems as if he attributes psychic abilities to them, for example, when he reports that his cat takes a seat in the driveway almost on time to wait for him even after his longer absences.

Always included: a healthy dose of humor. "Paws off the Table" makes you smile and also tells some exciting stories about Hape'seventfullife - even if he plays less of a leading role in this work than the cats mentioned.

Some tips from decades of cat experience he has of course also ready for his readers / inside. One piece of advice that definitely remains in the memory even after reading the last page is that man should always remember that animals were worshipped as gods in Ancient Egypt... And that they would not have forgotten exactly THAT.

Particularly likeable: when people think of celebrities and pets, they often have the familiar breeds in mind. Hape Kerkeling, however, seems to care about other details. Even though he - according to his own statement in an interview - would currently like to take in a Siamese cat, many of his other cat encounters cannot be assigned to any breed.

"Pfoten vom Tisch" is - especially at second glance - a comparatively personal book. Kerkeling makes no secret of his love for cats. He packs smaller anecdotes from his life in his usual humorous way, without appearing to be lecturing.

It is also interesting to note that it is not difficult to believe Kerkeling's fascination with animals, which obviously has an effect on him.

Not only cat owners, but also those who want to get to know the "private man Hape" a little better, should enjoy this book. And those who are less interested in reading but would like to see the comedian on TV again will soon have the opportunity to do so.

He can currently be seen as the devil in "Der Boandlkramer und die ewige Liebe" alongside Michael Bully Herbig. From fall 2021, he will then be in front of the camera for RTL. The "Comeback" of a TV icon accordingly obviously turns out to be just as extensive as his career to date. Whether on TV or as an author, Hape Kerkeling's story definitely doesn't seem to be over yet. His fans should be pleased.
