In the age of social media and the like, Instagram in particular is often used to openly admit to oneself. Among other things, many artists also decide to come out in this way and get in touch with their fans.
It almost seems as if a true "outing wave" has been rolling since 2020 at the latest. More and more celebrities dare to be open about themselves and are often celebrated for this in the comment columns.
But which transgender outings, or which artists in general, have actually stuck especially in people's minds? Even though every outing is individual, the following stars have left their mark on the scene.
Outing No. 1: Elliot Page
Elliot Page may be known to many through the movie "Juno". The star decided to come out as transgender some time ago and now calls himself "Elliot". A sentence that particularly caught the eye in the accompanying post: ".I love being queer!". The list of people who congratulated Elliot on this step is long and includes, among others, many high-profile stars.
Outing No. 2: Kim Petras
Kim Petras is one of the younger transgenders in the film and music scene. She was born at the beginning of the 1990s and had her gender adjusted at the age of 16. Obviously, this step did not harm her career. She has released several EPs in the past and the list of released singles is also long. In 2020, she was supposed to have supported Camila Cabello's "The Romance Tour." However, this was cancelled due to Corona.
Outing No. 3: Caitlyn Jenner
Caitlyn Jenner is an integral part of the series "Keeping up with the Kardashians". She decided comparatively late to her outing as transgender. In 2015, the time had come. Shortly after, she shared her new first name with the public. Her famous cover on Vanity Fair, which shows her as a woman, is also unforgettable.

Outing No. 4: Giuliana Farfalla
Giuliana Farfalla might still be a familiar name to many Germany's next Topmodel fans. She took part in the season in 2017 and left such a lasting impression that she also became a candidate in the jungle camp shortly afterwards. However, she ended her participation after day 6 with the words "I'm a star, get me out of here!".
However, no one can take one title away from her: Farfalla became the first transsexual woman to make it onto the cover of German Playboy!
Outing No. 5: Valentina Sampaio
Valentina Sampaio works as a model and enjoys a high profile, especially in Brazil. She is the first transgender fashion that was booked for Victoria's Secret.
How do parents deal with their child being transgender?
Many transgender outings are seen as inspiring and encouraging by people who are in a similar situation. But how do parents actually react when their child comes out as transgender?
A particularly positive (and comparatively recent) example is Jamie Lee Curtis. She explained in an interview that her son has now become a daughter. She now goes by the name Ruby. She had "watched in amazement and pride as our son became our daughter Ruby," she explained. However, before officially coming out, she asked her mom for permission to make it official.
Sometimes it is obviously communication that can make things easier - in all respects.
