Heide Park has relaxed its specifications for "Pink Day" - at least a little bit

The Heide Park in Soltau was recently criticized by a large part of the community. Because: In connection with the upcoming Pink Day, some bans were pronounced. Now, those responsible are backpedaling a bit.

The previously stated ban around the display of fetishes and masks has been relaxed. But what does that mean exactly?

The Pink Day at Heide Park

Heide Park and its "Pink Day" - what happened?

On September 03 and 04, Heide Park in Soltau will celebrate Pink Day. It was not too long ago that an official statement was published, which stated that the display of fetishes in any form and also masks were prohibited.

This is exactly what led to a number of queers feeling restricted in their freedom. After all, they were deprived of the possibility to completely stand up for themselves and to express their passion to the outside world.

Now those responsible have apparently decided to take a slightly different direction and allow a little more flexibility. On the page of the Heide Park, it is now said that there were unfortunately some ambiguities and misunderstandings.

Of course, the Pride Festival is aimed at all ages and target groups. But it should also be self-evident, "[...] that the representation of sexist fetish, bondage, phallic symbols, latex masks etc. is completely renounced". Who attaches importance to the details, quickly recognizes that in the meantime not all masks, but only latex masks are prohibited.

However, it was not long before - among other things in the social networks discussed what is meant by a sexist fetish.

The final statement of the Heide Park is then howeverrum again more than clear. Visitors should show consideration for each other and tolerate each other. In this way, inhibitions could be reduced together and the community could be actively supported.

The phallus symbol ban remains

At one point, however, those responsible at Heide Park stuck to their original opinion: The ban on the phallus display remains in place. Exactly this could ensure that some visitors have to reconsider their look. After all, at similar events, for example at the CSD, there are also always outfits in which penises have been incorporated - sometimes more, sometimes less large.

Pink Day is not received positively by all

Among other things, there are also some negative voices regarding the planned Pink Day at Heide Park. Among other things, some queers complained that this is just a form of pinkwashing. Especially the above-mentioned rules pissed some off. On their basis, parts of the community would be excluded.

Whether the representations of phallen and co. belong to events of this kind or not is discussed again and again.

Sure: Especially those who have never dealt with the diversity of the scene might react shocked at the first moment when they meet people in bondage look and with animal masks. But: Fetishes also belong to the scene.

However, opinions differ as to how explicitly they should be portrayed. And anyone who dares to take a look at the social networks to check out the mood surrounding Pink Day at Heide Park could get the impression that the last word has not yet been spoken here. And even IF Heide Park sticks to the current guidelines: It shouldn't be long before considerations like this are brought up again at one of the next queer events.
