The next (and last) season of Young Royals is planned
The Swedish series "Young Royals" is going into the next round. And once again, fans are wondering what will happen next with the story of Prince William and his subject Simon.
It didn't take long for "Young Royals" to attract a comparatively large fan base. According to Netflix, they can now look forward to another round. So the teen story continues. The only downer is that after season three, it will actually end for good.
How will the whole thing end? Will Prince William and his Simon stay together forever? Or does fate not mean well with the couple? These and other questions are likely to be asked above all by those who have been following the story of the two since season 1.
The announcement that "Young Royals" will enter the second round at all made waves on social networks... and the posted picture, Prince William and Simon both holding hands, already led to speculation.
"Young Royals: The success story began in 2021
Young Royals" is by no means a short-lived trend. A total of twelve episodes (and two seasons in all) have already been released. The first season has been available since summer 2021. Season 2 started in the fall of 2022. Now the fan community is waiting for "the grand finale," which will once again decide how the love story between Prince William and Simon will continue.
But back: What is "Young Royals" actually about? The main character of the series is the Swedish Prince William, played by Edvin Ryding. He attends a boarding school and falls in love with Simon (played by Omar Rudberg), who is anything but "royal.
Simon comes from a poor background. Therefore, it is very difficult to get closer to each other. There are two major challenges. On the one hand, it is not proper for a prince to be with a middle-class boy. On the other hand, there are many people who do not want the two to be happy. Therefore, the two have to defend themselves against various intrigues again and again.
In the end, the question is: "What is more important? Love or power?". Anyone who has already seen the first two seasons knows that the plot could currently develop in just about any direction. And of course, a happy ending is still possible.
Why will there be "only" three seasons of "Young Royals"?
First of all, it doesn't seem to be due to the success of the series that there will "only" be three seasons. On the contrary. Since its beginnings, the series has managed to convince both the audience and the critics.
For many, everything seemed "perfect" - from the plot to the cast. And the success was far from country-specific.
It is possible that Netflix will comment on this in the coming weeks or months. Or maybe not. It's also possible that the authors simply felt that the story between Prince William and Simon had been told. But it is not yet time to say goodbye. On the contrary! Based on an exciting back story and thanks to the talent of the actors, actresses and writers, it should be clear that the finale to "Young Royals" will definitely not be boring.
"By the way", the visibility of queer content is also further increased. And when that's combined with an exciting storyline, there's really nothing left to be desired, is there?
