These reasons speak for visiting a CSD

When people think of CSDs, they often used to think of events that usually take place during Pride Month and accordingly in June. However, this is exactly what has changed in the meantime. Nowadays, more and more CSDs also take place in July and even into the fall. The messages emanating from these important events are usually as colorful as their participants.

And even if many people associate CSDs primarily with a colorful hustle and bustle, it is essential to look at the message behind parades and the like. The following five reasons show why it makes sense to take a look at the bigger picture.

Super reasons for a CSD visit

Reason #1: Important messages need supporters

Even though the point of every CSD is, of course, to stand up for more equality, among other things, most events of this kind now run under certain mottos.

But regardless of whether it is mainly about the transsexual law, a more intensive clarification of homophobic acts or other goals: More participants make more "noise" and are accordingly able to attract the attention of politics. Therefore, it is all the more important not to proceed according to the motto "Let the others do it!", but to show one's colors oneself.

Reason #2: CSDs are individual

CSDs do not only consist of parades, of course, but also of many small "fringe events" that are also worth paying attention to. Among other things, there are numerous rallies and smaller concerts, in the context of which people fight for the rights of queers - sometimes in a very creative way. Accordingly, anyone planning to visit a CSD should focus not only on the "main acts" but on the overall concept.

Reason #3: The community stands together

A CSD is a wonderful opportunity to get closer together within the community as well. No matter if gay, lesbian, bi, trans etc.: The scene today is more diverse than ever.

And even if there are always voices claiming that it would fall apart or fight internally: A CSD is a wonderful occasion to prove the world wrong, isn't it?

Reason #4: Lots of great people

The times when a CSD was attended almost exclusively by queers are over. Today - especially at the parades - the most diverse people meet. Many of them are straight, but feel so connected to the scene that it is natural for them to join the street.

Therefore, in connection with CSDs, of course, many great people can be met. The chances of flirting are of course also very good. Nevertheless, of course - despite all the partying - the "good cause" should still come first.
Acquaintances, which can sometimes become particularly intense, are a nice side effect here.

Reason #5: Finally time for flashy outfits

When a CSD is celebrated in a city, the streets often shine in a "bright colorful". Here it is absolutely no problem, if desired, to wear the most flashy outfit of the closet. Whether at the parties or during the parade, no one has to feel "overdressed" here.

Last but not least, it should also be mentioned at this point that CSDs have become even a little safer over time in numerous cities. The cooperation between the police and the organizers has been intensified over time. This is to ensure that the number of crimes related to CSDs will hopefully continue to decrease in the future.
