Eurowings Discover: Nail polish and make-up allowed for female AND male staff

The subsidiary of Lufthansa Eurowings Discover has relaxed the rules for its male and female employees in the area of appearance. Among other things, the community should also be pleased to hear that men who work for Eurowings Discover and want to put on makeup, for example, now do not have to expect any problems on the part of their employer. Makeup and nail polish, but also tattoos and piercings are permitted (subject to compliance with certain "basic rules") - for both male and female employees.

The new regulations have already been officially recorded. Among others, the portal at aerotelegraph.com already reported on the innovations.

Eurowings allows makeup for men

These rules apply from now on at Eurowings Discover

From now on, every Eurowings Discover employee is allowed to openly display most tattoo motifs or designs and piercings, even when in contact with customers. Tattoos on the face, however, are still a no-go. The face may also only be decorated with a nose or tongue piercing. Eyebrow piercings or a bridge, for example, must then be removed before starting work. Male employees are now allowed to wear discreet makeup and nail polish.

Eurowings Discover is thus breaking the largely standardized rules that apply to just about every other airline.

Relaxations apply to all employees and staff members

A look at the details shows that a comparatively large target group is affected by the regulations. The changes apply to all employees. The exact workplace or area of responsibility in the aircraft is irrelevant. Both stewards and stewardesses as well as pilots are allowed to wear tattoos, piercings, makeup and nail polish. But why does Eurowings Discover follow this course?

A spokeswoman for the airline stressed that the innovations have been well received so far and that one of the aims is to boost employees' self-confidence. After all, they now have the opportunity to stand by themselves and thus certainly feel even more comfortable.

Another point is that the airline and its employees are making an important contribution to greater tolerance and acceptance. However, in order for this to be used to its full potential, it also needs the help of others. For example, when children ask themselves and their parents why the steward is wearing makeup. In this case, it should not be a problem to speak openly with the offspring.

Will the parent company Lufthansa follow suit?

According to a report published on aerotelegraph.com, Lufthansa will not adopt the Eurowings Discover relaxations. The same goes for the other members of the Lufthansa Group, Swiss and Austrian Airlines - at least until now. Instead, they continue to adhere to the makeup ban for male employees. Whether this will change in the near or distant future remains to be seen.

One thing is certain: Eurowings Discover has made a real statement with the aforementioned relaxations. Now it remains to be seen how the whole thing will be received by passengers. The new regulations can only be beneficial for the well-being of individual employees. After all, if you feel good, you can probably also serve the passengers in the best possible and friendliest way.

This could result in a wonderful win-win situation from which everyone would benefit. It is perceived as particularly positive by many that the new guidelines refer to male AND female employees. Thus, the position of many queers is not explicitly highlighted. Instead, everyone who loves discreet makeup, make-up and tattoos is affected by the new freedoms.
