For a long period of time it was a taboo, but today it has become normal for many men: make-up. More and more men are recognizing the benefits that gentle makeup can bring.

Often it is about applying creams and co. almost invisibly, covering redness and emphasizing special areas of the face.

Why do many men love to put on makeup?

The motives for putting on makeup as a man are actually the same arguments that play an important role for women. It's about feeling good, covering impurities and emphasizing one's own type even better.

For men in particular, makeup is considered successful if it is not recognizable as such at first glance. But how exactly can this be achieved? How does this "as discreet as possible and as effective as necessary" work?

Especially important: The right make-up shade

Make-up in the matching base color can ensure that a particularly harmonious overall impression is created. The (tinted) cream used should accordingly be neither too light nor too dark and should blend into the neck area as seamlessly as possible at the edges.

At the same time, it is important to make sure that the coverage of the makeup is sufficient to cover pimples and co.

Concealer against dark circles? No problem!

Men also often suffer from dark circles under the eyes - and not only after a long night. Concealer is an excellent way to cover them.

The product should be based on the shade of the make-up mentioned above and can be applied - generously as far as possible - under the eyes and lightly patted in.

Ideal for home: a discreet lip care product

Chapped lips can be a pain (and - by the way - also very painful). If you don't want to wear lip care in the office (most products leave a slight shine), you can of course wear it at home.

The corresponding products provide a lot of moisture and fat and thus often help to quickly repair minor cracks.

SOS help for pimples: The concealer stick

Who doesn't know it? An important meeting or a date with your crush is coming up and a pimple is spreading across your forehead? Here it can help to be able to rely on the benefits of a concealer.

This should - like make-up and concealer - be adapted to your own skin tone. (Additional tip: The respective shade should always be tested on the skin on the face (!). Many people make the mistake of comparing the color of the pencil with the color of the skin on the back of the hand. Here it can sometimes come to real mispurchases!)

By the way, a slight warming in the hand can ensure that the application works even better.

How much makeup is allowed?

Basically, the first step is that everyone should feel comfortable in their skin. Men who feel like wearing makeup with glitter particles or eye shadow should not have to restrict themselves here. Nevertheless, it is certainly not wrong to adapt the intensity of the makeup to the respective occasion - not because it is makeup for men, but because a corresponding approach is generally (and also for women) sensible.

Otherwise, it often helps - especially at the beginning of one's own, male make-up career - to try out a little and compare the various end results with each other.

Please do not forget the care!

Regardless of whether makeup is applied regularly or only every now and then: male skin is also happy about care routines.
