Even in summer, there's nothing to be said against a series marathon or two. So it's all the better that the number of series with LGBTQ content has continued to increase over time. Anyone who wants to deal with queer topics today - either directly or on the fringe - will usually find what they are looking for quickly.
But which LGBTQ-related series are actually particularly popular? For whom might it be worth taking a closer look where?

Orange is the New Black
It's certainly no exaggeration to call Orange is the New Black a hit series and the king of LGBTQ series. The storyline spans numerous seasons and appeals to a wide variety of target groups. Among other things, it is now also about queers, such as homosexuals or transsexuals. Laverne Cox and Samira Wiley have also been involved in the series. The message behind the plot is always the same: It's okay to be "different.
It's A Sin
It's a Sin is one of the mini LGBTQ series that deals with the AIDS issue. Set in the 1980s, it reflects the world of gay men who first come into contact with the rumors surrounding a "mysterious disease".
No one knows where it comes from and how it is transmitted. The only thing that is certain is that it is there and it is dangerous. Due to the fact that many actors who are involved are also gay, it has the impression in many places that there is a lot of heart and soul in the project.
Feel Good
In Feel Good, many viewers will find it difficult to choose just one favorite character, because almost all of them seem likeable or have character traits that make you want to have a quiet coffee with him or her sometime.
And what is it about? Mae works as a stand-up artist and tries to renounce drugs. At some point, she falls in love with an audience member. The resulting relationship is marked by a lot of passion, but also by many problems.
Please Like Me
The main character of this series is Josh. Josh realizes that he is gay. And as if this fact didn't cause enough confusion in his life, he also has to take care of his depressed mother.
The series essentially focuses on the relationships between the individual characters. Questions like "How does my environment react to the fact that I'm gay?"play a role here, as does the confrontation with one's own feelings.
The L Word
If there is one series that can be called the "mother of LGBTQ series", it is definitely the classic "The L Word". The success story began in 2001 and continues over several seasons. While the storyline at the beginning was still almost exclusively about lesbian relationships, new characters were added over time - including a transsexual man.
Due to its great success, The L Word was continued about ten years after the broadcast of the last episode. The spin-off "The L Word - Generation Q" reinterprets the stories of queer love.
Queer as Folk
Here the queerness is already in the title! Queer as Folk is one of the series that was frenetically celebrated not only by the community. Here, everything revolves around five men who are confronted with the most diverse relationship problems.
"Along the way, it's also about the "normal madness". A mix of an authentic plot and great characters makes this series hit a real TV evening must-have.
