The venue for WorldPride 2025 is set

The joy was great! The WorldPride 2025 is to take place in Asia, more precisely: in Taiwan. This is a small premiere. Because: until now, the event has never been held on this continent.

Accordingly, in 2025, the eyes of the community will not only be on this place.

The WorldPride 2025 in Taiwan

Taiwan has won the election

WorldPride 2025 is the ninth event in the series. The announcement of the venue was made virtually and was awaited by many interested parties. The WorldPride takes place every two years and always attracts great international interest.

And even though there are parallels to the classic CSDs, it is noticeable that the focus here is far more diverse and international than at the regional events. The different influences from the most diverse countries of the world make the event even more colorful.

Taiwan now joins the ranks of other places that have already had the pleasure of hosting a World Pride. Copenhagen, New York and Rome, among others, have already had their turn. Before Taiwan becomes the center of international queer festivities for a few days, Sydney will be able to prove its skills as a host in 2023.

More than "just another host

The fact that WorldPride 2025 will take place in Asia for the first time can be seen as an important statement in many respects. Because: although there are of course also queers on this continent who stand by themselves and their sexual orientation, it is precisely here that the visibility of the community suffers time and again.

The decision to hold Pride right there draws the focus of attention to Taiwan and shows once again how important it is not to forget that the LGBTQI+ community has long since become a global community.

As previous events of this kind have shown, people can expect a colorful fireworks display of celebrations in 2023 and 2025, but also a mix of many important statements. Many events that take place during WorldPride can also be followed on the Internet. In this way, the event really becomes a comprehensive spectacle for all members of the community and for those who can identify with the scene.

A look at the LGBTQI+ scene in Taiwan.

Queers in Taiwan enjoy comparatively many freedoms compared to other countries on the continent. Among other things, gay couples are allowed to marry here. Every time anew, large CSD events are celebrated in Taipei, which always captivate people from the region and also attract them from further away.

Accordingly, it can be assumed that Taiwan will certainly enjoy hosting the international WorldPride. Sufficient experience and the (so important) attention to detail should be available.

Next up, however, is Sydney. In any case, it is particularly pleasing that the internationality of the hosts - even in retrospect - has become just as colorful as the community. It remains to be seen which countries will invite the community to join them in the future. It certainly won't be boring.
