Trans man Rubén Castro is having a baby!
No question: every birth is a small, big miracle. In the case of Rubén Castro, however, there is the added fact that the new dad is a trans man. On May 01, he gave birth to his son, Luar.
His story, among others, has long been a topic on social networks. Many people have followed the desire to have a child and the months of pregnancy. However, opinions about the fact that Rubén has now actually had a child, differ a little.
While many rejoice with the 27-year-old Spaniard, others spoke out against the pregnancy.
Luan is a healthy boy
The good news first: Luan, Rubén's son, is a healthy boy. The pregnancy of the trans man is doubly special in that there is currently no comparable case in the country. Accordingly, the interest of the public was immense.
Rubén obviously had no problem with this. On the contrary! He kept his followers up to date and posted pictures. So also after the delivery. With a "Luar is here!" he announced the message.
A pregnant trans man - how does that actually work?
Regardless of how one may feel about the trans man's pregnancy, there is interest in the topic on both sides.
Accordingly, many people should be pleased that this particular miracle of pregnancy is examined in more detail in the documentary "Papa gestante". Among other things, questions such as: "What are the differences between a woman's pregnancy and a man's?" and "What fears does a pregnant manhave to deal with?
Behind the documentary, however, is another concern. Rubén wants to encourage and educate other people who may be considering having children.
How can a man actually get pregnant?
Basically, of course, the question arises how it can be physically possible to have a baby as a trans man.
However, the procedure may be explained more quickly than many would think. Because: the "secret" simply lies in the freezing of the eggs.
This was also the case with Rubén. His eggs were also frozen before he underwent hormone treatment. In the final step, all that was needed was artificial insemination and nothing stood in the way of the "miracle of life".
Rubén is not the first pregnant trans man
Even though Rubén's story is unique - at least in Spain - there have been pregnant trans men in many other countries around the world. Especially in the USA and also in Germany transsexuals already made the experience that the dream of having their own baby does not have to remain a dream.
But even here it already showed that the opinions about whether it can be "allowed" to have a child as a trans man definitely always diverge.
The spectrum of arguments and opinions ranges from "This is not normal!" to "Man should not interfere so much with nature!" to "The poor child!".
However, one thing is also certain: There are many people who find the possibility that transsexuals can also have children very fulfilling. In the end - once again - certainly every individual has to decide how he/she faces the topic and whether the own pregnancy comes into question, for example, as an alternative to adoption.
Rubén Castro should now be looking forward to a (hopefully) relaxed time getting to know his offspring.
