Are gay relationships more harmonious than heterosexual ones?

First of all: There are always exceptions, of course! But: According to a study, many homosexual relationships are significantly more harmonious than their heterosexual counterparts. The corresponding results were delivered by a study from the USA, more precisely: from Texas. All data and framework conditions were published in the "Journal of Social and Personal Relationships".

The result: homosexual couples not only have less stress with each other than heterosexual couples, but are also better able to deal with discussions and the like.
Above all, the empathy factor seems to play a particularly important role in this context. The study also showed that gay men find it easier to empathize with the opinions of their counterparts.

Of course, this is not the only study of its kind. Other scientific studies have also compared gay and lesbian couples with heterosexual couples. However, topics such as disputes, discussions and harmony within the relationship have rarely been the focus. However, this is exactly what has changed with the current study from the USA.

What makes happy couples?

Of course, it is absolutely normal to argue in relationships from time to time - both in heterosexual and homosexual partnerships. However, in the context of the study it became clear once again that it is particularly important how both deal with the situation. Those who manage to listen to their partner (and perhaps also jump over their shadow a little) can help to quickly restore harmony.

Or, to put it simply, the better a couple works together, the happier their relationship tends to be.

Based on the results of the study, it might therefore be advisable for many heterosexual couples to take homosexual couples as an example. From a scientific point of view, another factor plays an important role: the general gender dynamic. Or (to put it exaggeratedly): Perhaps people of the same sex are simply more capable of understanding each other and being able to comprehend the other's feelings and thoughts?

But whether homosexual or not, it is clear that saying goodbye to unattainable ideals, such as a relationship without arguments, is an important step towards happiness.

What is special about a homosexual relationship?

The realization that there is often far less stress in a homosexual relationship than in its heterosexual counterpart is often followed by the question: ... Why?

Are homosexual people perhaps simply more stress-resistant because they have often - especially in the phase of their self-discovery - gone through bad times and are "already used to much more"? Whether in connection with their own outing or with regard to discrimination in everyday life: homosexual people are challenged in numerous areas, so that it would actually only be understandable if they were more likely to check off a relationship dispute under "Can happen!

The communication factor could also play an important role in this context. Many homosexual people have absolutely no problem communicating with their partner - including, of course, any sexual desires.

Last but not least, many homosexual relationships are not based on classic role clichés. Both approach each other as equals - even apart from classic gender roles. Just the way it should be.

Many gay couples show their love through marriage for all

Since marriage for all was introduced in 2017, partnership life has changed fundamentally for many queer people. Of course, marriage is not a guarantee that the relationship will be as stress-free as possible.

However, the current study from the USA also shows that it could well be worth being a little brave and taking the famous "next step".
